In my recent post Spiritual Truths and Swine!
I spoke of the dangers of discussing spiritual truths
with superficial people. I explained that not only can
such people not understand spiritual truths properly
themselves, but they can also end up teaching their
children and future generations superficial versions
of spiritual truths. This already has led to very bad
results for humanity over thousands of years, as
anyone reasonably intelligent may understand.
My post brought about a few
questions along the lines of “Well, Philip,
what should we do to help superficial people?”
My stock answer to such people is:
“Are you sure that you actually understand
spiritual truths as they should be understood?
For if you don’t, you should focus on learning
deeply instead of trying to educate others!”
The reason I ask this question is because most people
claiming to possess spiritual truth do not have it and
are, themselves, carriers of superficial versions of
spiritual truths. The same is true of most people
claiming to be Godly or Spiritual. They are only
superficially Godly or superficially Spiritual.
And so it proved on this occasion.
Those who had asked me what they
should be doing to help superficial people,
all themselves turned out to be superficial!
The world is full of people calling themselves golfers
or tennis players or chess players or poker players.
But there is a very great difference between someone
who owns a set of golf clubs and an Open championship
winner. The same is true of someone who plays tennis
at the local club and a Wimbledon champion. I may beat
my family and friends at chess but that does not mean I
have a chance against a Grandmaster. You may win a
few pounds off your friends in a friendly poker game at
home but would be well-advised to keep your hard
earned savings away from professional poker players!
The same truth applies in spirituality. There is an
enormous difference between the understanding
and practise of sages and prophets and that of most
so-called spiritual teachers and gurus on the planet.
The latter brigade are but novices compared to the sages
and prophets, and are in fact the blind leading the blind.
I have explained this valuable point here because all who
feel the urge to teach spiritual truths to others must first
be extremely honest and ask themselves if they actually
understand and practise spiritual truths as a sage or
prophet might. For if they don’t, they are only going to
add to the great confusion which already exists.
Humanity can do without additional confusion, without more
blind fools masquerading as gurus and spiritual teachers.
Humanity needs honest, sincere, intelligent people – be they
atheists, agnostics or believers – to start thinking about who
or what man is and what life is really all about. It needs
people who can go deep within, discover spiritual truths
from first principles, and practise them as naturally as
breathing and walking and eating and sleeping. It needs
people who can live in harmony with the universe and act in
accordance with universal time. Then and then alone will
humanity have the spiritual teachers and gurus it is always
crying out for – and deserves!
“Learn First, Teach Later!” is a fundamental, simple-and-easy
spiritual principle. Anyone with sincerity, honesty and conscience
can understand and practise it. So go deep within, my friends,
and unlearn and learn and unlearn and learn and unlearn and
learn until you and spiritual principles have become one and the
same. Then you will be a spiritual being, in tune with the
universe, in accord with the wisdom of the sages and prophets,
and you then may teach Divine truths to those capable of
learning – without error and without adding to the confusion!
I wish you all the very best in your efforts along the correct path.
May you all learn and practise spiritual tuths deeply and truly.
And may you all be eternally blessed, my friends, for so doing!
Philip
