Why has Twitter suspended my account?

Why has Twitter suspended my account?

For reasons unexplained, Twitter has suddenly
suspended my account and is claiming that it
has to be investigated for spam.

What spam? As all my readers know, I neither spam
people via DM nor publish any spam messages. Indeed,
mine is one of the most respected, liked and
re-tweeted accounts on Twitter with a reputation for
providing wisdom and inspiration.

Yet these fools at Twitter have suspended it, are ruining
my good name and reputation, and are sending me
automated replies saying that it will take a minimum of
thirty days to conduct the investigation.

A minimum of thirty days! I have demanded immediate
restoration of my account and an apology but I will need
your help. If you read me at Twitter, please inform other
readers and ask Twitter just what they are playing at?

Tweeting the following message will help to alert my
readers who must all be wondering where I am, how
I feel, and what they can do.

Why @PJA64X, of all people, has been suspended?
http://bit.ly/1uHgzj Please ask Twitter & RT.

Thank you so much for all your help.

Well, your website is asking people for their username/password. If this was not your intent, then you need to find where this API is coming from, asking for such information. I think that’s a violation of twitters’s terms of service, or at the very least provokes twitter users to complain.

My site does not ask anyone to give their username/password. It has never done so nor will it ever do so. It does not need to!

What you saw was Twitter’s own application “Profile widget for My Website” asking ME to give my username/password, so that it could post my tweets.

    The application is now disabled.

    Hope that helps you understand.

  • Very sorry to hear that Philip. Can’t believe it could happen to you. Dont worry they will have to restore it asap.

      Thanks Kamran. And Happy Eid.

Several people have had wrongful suspensions recently. My problem at the moment is somehow to make all my readers aware. Thanks for tweeting in this regard.

      Have an enjoyable day.

  • Hey PJA64X just saw your Twitter account seems back to normal. Mine is still literally screwed up I don’t know what to do so frustrating I never thought I would go through this much frustration due to a Social Networking Website…

    Dear Kamran, Shriza and Arfan,

Thank you all so much for the good wishes and concern.

My account was suspended quite mysteriously around 10 AM UK time yesterday, September 19th. It was restored equally mysteriously around 9 PM yesterday although I only became aware of it when going online around 10.30 AM today.

    —————————–

Arfan, I contacted and contested this suspension via Twitter Support and their email

    suspended@twitter.com

Have you done this? Even if you have, you might repeat the process and demand restoration and an apology.

You should also go to this page

    http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter

join Get Satisfaction and report your problem or ask your question.

This is a very good people powered organization which will get you replies from Twitter and other companies. I have used them in the past successfully. Good luck.

Well, my friends, as I am up and running again, let me thank God and you and all those who supported me.

    Bless you all.

I was saddened when I saw that your account was suspended and wonder why. But I just logged in twitter today and I’m so happy to see that you’re back. I hope twitter wouldn’t do it again, your tweets inspire me specially on days when I am down and also this site..

Keep up the good work and more blessings to come.

    • PJA64X

Thank you my friend. Some people tell me that there is a bug. Others have been wrongfully suspended also.

God bless you and give you inspiration and uplift directly each and every day.

      Take care.

I truly can’t believe that you were targeted for some bizarre reason?

Twitter should be working more diligently on removing these bogus sex sites and sneaky, snake-oil sales people!

I ALWAYS read and re-tweet your outstanding thoughts. I support your good efforts and thank you!

    • PJA64X

Thank you and bless you for your kind comments.

I do not know what lay behind my suspension and restoration. I have not been told.

Twitter always hides whenever it does wrong – and that is most of the time. Instead of monitoring and removing the type of accounts you mention, it seems to be suspending perfectly good people.

Here is wishing you the very best in all that occupies you.

      Take care.

  • Sorry to hear about this. It may comfort you to know that suspensions like this, without providing any way to immediately correct a wrongful suspension happen all the time by companies that simply have too much web traffic for decisions to be handled by real people.

Those suspensions are usually automated, with decisions made by computer programs, not humans. They work much like spam filters which by now everybody knows they are not 100% reliable.

Yes, most of their suspensions are justified but sometimes innocent folks are targeted wrongfully. What makes the situation worse that corresponding via email to correct the problem gives you the feeling that you are answered by either robots or humans that are not given the authority to answer in non-robotic manner…

Don’t worry, your account will be re-instated. :)

    • PJA64X

Thank you. But, as you will have noticed via the post above “My Twitter Account Mysteriously Restored!” or via my Twitter account, the suspension was reversed within 10-11 hours following my demands.

No explanation or apology has been made. I have demanded both again. No doubt Twitter will keep hiding and dodging.

My good name and reputation have of course been tarnished by these fools. Even worse, my registration at wefollow.com has been revoked and I cannot get it back. There, mine was the top rated Twitter account in the categories of London UK, Spirituality, Spiritual and Quotes, second in the category of Inspiration, and 11th in the category of Blogs.

So, you see, a good deal of harm has been done.

Thank you again for your interest and kind words.
      Philip

  • I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.
